Wild Thought

Wild Thought is a group exhibition made up of artists selected from the call made by BIENALSUR for this first edition. The works seek to retrace the progress of modern western humans from our now. Sensitized by intelligences of other cosmogonies, perhaps we will be able to listen to the non-human insurrection, the responsibility of the anthropocene, the words of the stars, of the stones-grandfather-totems, to learn from what surrounds us: to integrate ourselves to the Earth. Today "nature" has become central to the political thinking and practices of the present. Both as a strategic objective of power in the era of so-called immaterial capitalism and also, of course, in what some authors still frame as class struggle and what others prefer to think of as new forms of resistance in which human and non-human agents are involved. Is humanity in general responsible for environmental disasters or an infinitesimal portion of it? Is it a matter of correcting collateral effects or of questioning the very model of development as a manager of planetary life? Are environmental catastrophes accidents or do non-human agents express their resistance to depredation? Although the rationality of modern science and economics has marginalized the animism of the original worldviews, can the evidence of their ecological primacy remain untouched? What is the basis of our faith in unlimited economic growth? What is wealth? Art is fundamental in the face of these questions because a proof, a good argument, a convincing figure, is not enough without at the same time appealing to (constituting) a sensibility capable of taking them into account.
