Michelle-Marie Letelier

Michelle-Marie Letelier was born in 1977 in Rancagua, Chile, and lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in 2000 and, between 2007 and 2008, studied Experimental Media Design at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Her multidisciplinary work, spanning installation, photography, video, drawing and sculpture, addresses the exploitation of natural resources and its relation to historical and geopolitical contexts, rooted in her childhood in Chuquicamata, the world largest open-pit copper mine. She has exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago, the Gropius-Bau in Berlin, Tabakalera in Donostia and the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende. She has taken part in international biennials including BienalSur in Buenos Aires, the Mercosur Biennial in Porto Alegre and the Video and Media Arts Biennial in Santiago. She completed residencies at ISCP in New York and USF in Bergen, and received grants from the Chilean Ministry of Cultures and the Goethe-Institut.
