Laura Andreato

Laura Andreato was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1978, and lives and works in that city. She is a visual artist and art educator, graduated in Fine Arts from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo, where she also earned a master degree in Visual Poetics. Her practice addresses everyday life and urban context, with a particular interest in landscape representation and the insertion of text within the space of large cities. She also works as a set and costume designer for performances by artists such as Tom Zé and the group Barbatuques. Since 2001 she has presented solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries in Brazil and abroad, including Le Royale at La Maudite in Paris, Paradiso in the MASP storefront windows and Deslize at the Museu de Arte do Rio. She took part in the exhibition Pensamiento Salvaje as part of BienalSur, at the Casa Nacional del Bicentenario in Buenos Aires, in 2017. She completed a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, selected by the Institut Français, and was nominated for the PIPA Prize.
