Julieta Hanono

Julieta Hanono was born in 1963 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and lives and works between Buenos Aires, Paris and Rosario. She studied fine arts and philosophy at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, and in 1990 was invited to Antonio Seguí workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the city where she has lived ever since. Her work is linked to her own history in the 1970s, marked by forced disappearance, imprisonment and exile in France, and unfolds through painting, installation, embroidery and writing in dialogue with communities such as the Qom people of the Argentine Chaco. She has held solo exhibitions at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, the Museo de la Cárcova, the Centre d Art Contemporain in Geneva and several Paris galleries, and has taken part in group exhibitions at the Museo Castagnino+macro and Malba. Her work was featured at the 12th Mercosul Biennial, the 11th Lanzarote Biennial and BienalSur in 2017.
