Mariela Yeregui
Mariela Yeregui was born on January 5, 1966, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she lives and works. She holds a degree in Arts from the University of Buenos Aires and a PhD in Media Philosophy from the European Graduate School in Switzerland. Since the late 1990s she has worked at the intersection of art and electronic and digital technologies, developing interactive installations, net.art, public space interventions, video-sculptures and robotic installations. Her work Proxemia, composed of twenty-five spherical robots, was the first interactive robotic installation in Argentina. She has exhibited at the Centro Cultural Recoleta, Fundación Proa and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, and completed residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada and the Media Centre d Art i Disseny in Barcelona. She received the First BEEP_Art Prize in Barcelona and the First Prize at the Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales in 2005. She is founder and director of the Master in Technology and Aesthetics of Electronic Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero.
