Pedro Torres
Pedro Torres was born in Brazil in 1982 and lives and works in Barcelona, Spain. He graduated from the University of São Paulo and completed specialized studies at the Media Centre d Art i Disseny in Barcelona. His practice combines video, photography, installation, sculpture and sound art, focusing on time, distance, memory, language and image. He has held solo exhibitions at the Blueproject Foundation, MACBA and Centre d Art Tecla Sala in Barcelona, as well as in Madrid, Berlin and Lisbon. His work has also been featured in group exhibitions and international biennials, including the Cuenca Biennial in Ecuador, the Mardin Biennial in Turkey, the Border Biennial in Mexico and BienalSur in Buenos Aires. He has received grants from the Marcelino Botín Foundation, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the la Caixa Foundation, and has completed residencies in Berlin, Seoul and Iceland. His work is held in the collections of MACBA and the Marcelino Botín Foundation. He is currently an artist in residence at Hangar, Barcelona center for visual arts production and research.
