Sofía Medici y Laura Kalauz
Sofía Medici was born in 1974 and Laura Kalauz in 1975, both in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and they form a collaborative duo working across performing and visual arts. Medici is a director, playwright and producer, with a degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, and has held residencies at the Watermill Center in New York and the Mobile Academy in Warsaw. Kalauz is a director, choreographer and performer, who graduated as a Dance Maker from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem, the Netherlands, and lives between Zurich and Buenos Aires. Their joint projects, including Nostalgia de una Ciencia Ficción Futura, Reported Speech, Proyecto Monumental, Darwin secuestra a tres fueguinos y les enseña inglés and Línea Histórica, take the form of performative lectures, installations, theatre plays and excursions that investigate the power of artistic practice to intervene in reality. They presented their work at the Venice Biennale, De Singel in Antwerp, NAVE in Santiago, Chile, and BienalSur, at the Casa Nacional del Bicentenario in Buenos Aires, in 2017.
