Adriana Bustos

Adriana Bustos, originally from Bahía Blanca, Argentina, studied art and psychology at the National University of Córdoba. Their work is widely recognized for its investigative and documentary nature, utilizing photography, video, drawing, painting, and performance as key mediums to explore powerful themes. They have participated in numerous prestigious international biennials, including the Dhaka Art Summit in Bangladesh (2019), the Montevideo Biennial in Uruguay (2018 and 2014), the Sharjah Biennial in the United Arab Emirates (2018), and the Global South Biennial in Argentina (2017). Other notable appearances include the Asunción Biennial in Paraguay (2015), SITE Santa Fe in the USA (2014), the Rennes Biennial in France (2012), and the Istanbul Biennial in Turkey (2011). Earlier in their career, they participated in the End of the World Biennial in Ushuaia (2009) and the Mercosur Biennial in Porto Alegre (2005). Their accolades include the Azcuy Prize from the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires in 2020 and the First Prize Federico Klemm for Visual Arts in 2016. Additionally, they received awards from Cultural Chandon in 2004, 2005, and 2006, the OSDE Photography Prize in 2006, and the Andreani Prize in 2008. Recent exhibitions include “Paisaje peregrino” at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (2021–22), “Cosmopolis 3” at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Naples (2021–22), and “Cosmopolis 2” at the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2019). Other prominent shows include “El retorno de lo reprimido” at the Federico Klemm Foundation (2018), “La Máquina de Visión” at Nora Fisch Gallery (2018), and “Prosa del Observatorio” at MUSAC Contemporary Art Museum in Spain (2017).
