Martín Di Girolamo

Martín Di Girolamo was born on September 9, 1965, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lives and works. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón and furthered his training with the Kuitca Grant from Fundación Proa in 1994 and the Taller de Barracas grant from Fundación Antorchas, led by Pablo Suárez and Luis Benedit, between 1995 and 1996. He left painting around 1993 to focus on sculpture, centering his work on the mediatized female body and the codes of advertising, rendered in a hyperrealist style. He has held solo exhibitions at Galería Ruth Benzacar in Buenos Aires, Scott Richards Contemporary Art in San Francisco and Galeria Baró Cruz in São Paulo. His work has been featured in group exhibitions at the Museo de Arte Moderno and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, and he has taken part in the Havana Biennial, the Dakar Biennial and BienalSur, as well as fairs including ARCO, Art Basel Miami and arteBA. His work is held in the Colección Banco Ciudad de Buenos Aires and the collection of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires.
