Together Apart

Together Apart – an International Meeting of Art, Thought, and Frontiers, is the flagship project of the Centro de Estudios Fronterizos (CEF), an initiative developed by El Pilar Foundation in Cucuta. Its first edition, in 2017, in the framework of BIENALSUR, broke records on the frontier, attracting over 9000 visitors and involving 36 renowned artists and thinkers from 18 countries, 24 of whom came from the region.

This is a city project which functions as a prompt for a circuit including four historical and cultural buildings and showcases an audiovisual film cycle, a program of conferences and workshops, interventions in the public space, urban investigations and participatory actions. The objective is to position Cucuta as the epicentre of the global debate on frontiers and migration, to build a new narrative about memory and citizenship in real time.
