Glenda León
Glenda León (Havana, 1976) is a Cuban artist living and working between Havana and Madrid. Her work spans drawing, video art, installation, object, sound, photography, and performance. She holds a BA in Art History from the University of Havana and a Master’s in New Media from Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln. León has received awards such as the Pilar Juncosa & Sotheby’s Prize (2021), the DKV Prize (2020), and two Pollock-Krasner Foundation grants (2005, 2020). She has held solo shows at Museo Amparo (Mexico), MARCO Vigo, and MEIAC (Spain), and participated in major biennials including Venice (2013), Aichi, Dakar, Cuenca, SITE Santa Fe, and several editions of the Havana Biennial. Her work is held in collections such as Centre Pompidou, PAMM, AGO, Hammer Museum, and MFAH. León's practice seeks to unveil connections between the visible and the invisible, sound and spirit, inviting deep listening as a symbolic form of healing.
