Núria Güell
Núria Güell (b. 1981, Vidreres, Girona) is a Spanish visual artist known for her confrontational and socially engaged practice. Her work directly challenges power structures, moral norms, and institutions through legal/illegal actions, bureaucratic processes, and collaborations with individuals and public entities. By moving her practice outside traditional art spaces, she creates real-life interventions that expose hidden tensions and question her own ethical stance. Güell studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and completed the Art Conduct program in Havana led by Tania Bruguera. She has exhibited in major international biennials and collaborated with educational and social centers across Latin America and Europe. Her practice positions art as a politically and socially necessary tool rather than a mere cultural exercise, constantly questioning established systems and provoking real-world consequences. Programs such as SOMA (Mexico City), Espositivo (Argentina), and various workshops with artists like Alfredo Jaar have shaped her radical approach.
