Opening: Tuesday, August 26th FACTO 12 presents pieces by artists and collectives from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, and the United States. The exhibition is based on a curatorial approach that addresses the trend towards an uncertain future linked to the rapid pace of technological revolution, among other factors.
The growing integration of machinic and biological logics is one of the factors that constrains the collective imagination by imposing a continuous present. In this context, could it be considered an act of resistance to think through the practice of futurability (Franco Berardi, 2019) through art, science or technology?
In pursuit of a collective force for transformation, it is essential to have a reflective approach, the power of choice, and the ability to propose imaginative alternatives, thinking not only about one but many possible futures (Roberto Poli, 2017), as well as the strategies necessary to achieve them. Contemporary artists propose new ways of achieving a desirable future (Anthony Dunne and Fiona Raby, 2013) through works in contemporary languages that speculate on the future, simulate alternative social systems, or materialise ethical and technological paradoxes.
Considering a myriad possible futures makes the present more meaningful. Art enables both the creation of spaces of resistance by offering new horizons in an ethical, critical and pluralistic way, and the recovery of the capacity to project futures as a condition of collective desire in a post-utopian era.
