Mateus Morbeck

Mateus Morbeck (Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, 1980) is a Brazilian artist and architect whose practice spans multiple media, with a particular focus on photography, objects, digital art, and generative art based on computational algorithms and artificial intelligence. His artistic research explores the relationships between consumption, image, and perception, developing processes that investigate layered meanings within contemporary visual culture. Working from a systemic perspective, his work moves between micro and macro scales, connecting individual elements with global phenomena and proposing critical reflections on the production, circulation, and perception of images. He holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA) and postgraduate studies in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration Management (CECI/UFPE) and Strategic People Management (UNOESTE). He is currently pursuing a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Systems at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). He is the author of the book Maré de Agosto, selected in the Visual Arts category of the Prêmio das Artes Jorge Portugal. His works are included in collections such as the Museum of Photography of Fortaleza, the Mediterranium Collection (Italy), and the RARE Collection – SuperRare (digital art), as well as private collections. In 2022 he presented his first solo exhibition, É Tudo Depois, in Salvador, and has participated in festivals, biennials, and exhibitions across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
