D.A. Restrepo-Quevedo
D.A. Restrepo-Quevedo is a Colombian designer, researcher, and academic specializing in design, cognition, and emerging technologies. She holds a degree in Graphic Design from Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano, a specialization in Multimedia Creation from Universidad de los Andes, a Master’s degree in Media Arts from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina) and Universidad de Chile, and a Master’s in Interaction and Experience Design from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. She earned a PhD in Design and Creation from Universidad de Caldas and completed postdoctoral studies in Education, Social Sciences, and Interculturality at Universidad Santo Tomás, with research stays at the Universitat de Barcelona and Universidad de Guadalajara.
For more than twenty years she has researched the human mind through cognitive science applied to design. Her research focuses on conceptual and mental models, motivation profiles, design cognition, systemic perspectives on creativity, and multimodality studies. She also examines topics related to communities of practice, social learning theory, cultural and creative industries, and emerging technologies for experience design.
Restrepo-Quevedo has directed multiple research and consulting projects in Colombia for governmental institutions including the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of ICT, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, translating academic research into community-based initiatives, cultural policy, and creative sector development.
She currently teaches in the PhD program in Design, Art and Science at Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and serves as director of TadeoLab, a laboratory for experimentation, innovation, and emerging pedagogies.
