Residence opening: Thursday, November 6, 4 p.m. Fabián Ramos works across photography, sculpture, architecture, and film. His project Ghost Cinema emerges from a long-term investigation into cinematic forms that predate the invention of the film device, exploring the connections between image, matter, and space. The proposal combines a short film with the creation of sculptures, compositions, and actions, articulated on this occasion in relation to the building of MUNTREF – Museo de la Inmigración y Centro de Arte Contemporáneo. The work is developed in situ, through camera recording, the documentation of textures, the identification of objects, and the experience of the venue’s unique atmosphere. During the exhibition—conceived as a space for experimentation—a “ghost” cinema room is installed: ephemeral and fictional, it houses a film created by the artist from his observations of the building during his residency. Made up of sculptures, curtains, furniture, objects, and photographs, the room creates an environment that evokes a spectral cinematographic experience, made strange by the fact that the main spectators of the video are the objects themselves. In this sense, the proposal stages a fiction in which the objects, while part of the room, also play the leading roles in the film. The pieces perform and are activated through theatricality, appearing in different spaces of the building. In this interplay of projection and presence, the artist invites reflection on the construction of the real, the memory of images, and the sensory dimension of space. The network of relationships ultimately produces a psychological perception of space—a particular atmosphere in which things reveal themselves.
