Opening: Thursday October 30th, 12.30 p.m
The UNTREF Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Arts presents a wide range of characters and stories through a heterogeneous and multifaceted approach.
This show celebrates the programme's twenty-fifth anniversary. If we ask ourselves what unites us as a community, some of the answers can be found in the room: electrical modulations, poeticised data, a cute posthumanism, synesthetic translations and deconstructions of technology. We are challenged by error, the alien, DIY culture, sacred geometry, misuse, toolboxes, May 1968, obsolescence, microcontrollers, artificial intelligence, noise, cyborgs, situationism, and critical pedagogy.
This selection of works, which resulted from a call for submissions, reflects certain aspects of the microcosm developing in north-west Greater Buenos Aires. Whether lo-fi or hi-tech, the Degree in Electronic Arts provides an environment that fosters creative thinking through technology. It is a breeding ground for electronic media, noise enthusiasts, emotional robots and eccentric scientists.
We indulge in the most revolutionary form of stillness: contemplation. We pay homage to deep listening. We bow before a glitchy screen. In a world that appears to have no future, or at least so some claim, those of us in the Electronic Arts community reflect on time and its curvilinear, intricate dance.
