Calculated interruption: Diego Melero in conversation with the exhibition "Dinámicas vertientes Sur <-> Sur"

Performance:  Friday August 8th, 8 p.m

As part of Dinámicas Vertientes. Sur <-> Sur exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Chile, a one-off performance will be presented by Argentine artist Diego Melero, whose practice is rooted in the graphic representation of political, social, and economic phenomena. On this one day only, Melero will stage an intervention that, rather than disrupting, seeks to resonate with the systems of power, surveillance, and resistance, which Naranjo has explored throughout his career.

The performance Formas sociales en una época conservadora de extrema desigualdad does not aim to illustrate, but to intervene. By incorporating data, statistics and critical analysis structures onto movable panels, Melero's body becomes part of the reading and disruption device. This action will remain as a trace and a superimposed layer within the exhibition, creating a zone of productive friction between the two artists. The interplay of their artistic languages raises new questions about the role of contemporary art in relation to hegemonic discourses and their representation devices.
