Diego Melero

Diego Melero (San Justo, 1960) is an artist, performer, and sociologist based in Buenos Aires. Trained in Guillermo Kuitca’s workshop, he developed a multidisciplinary approach integrating art and social sciences. His work spans performance, drawing, and painting, addressing political, philosophical, and economic themes. Since the 1990s, Melero has created impactful performances such as Representación de… (1999) and Repressive Apparatus in Action: From Subversion to Populism (2017). He also teaches the seminar The Contemporary Recovery of the Lost Links Between Society and Art at the University of Buenos Aires. Melero has established himself as a key figure in the intersection of art and sociology, using performance as a critical and expressive medium. His work is a reference in contemporary Argentine art and social commentary.
