Persistence

Opening: Sunday July 7th, 4 p.m | Wednesday, August 27th, 6 p.m A subtle, rhythmic, persistent vibration fills the space. A meditative physical experience then emerges and takes hold. Air... I breathe, I breathe... breathing... The works gathered here converge on placing something as primary and vital as air and the act of breathing at the center of attention. Each of the artists has chosen to situate their reflection within the essential dimension that makes life possible. From Padín and his video poem Air, which captures the action he carried out on different occasions with the aim of raising awareness about the deterioration of this resource, to Sorrentino’s breaths, on the one hand, and Motta & Lima, on the other, who seek to make visible that automatic gesture also present in Reinoso's work.

Sorrentino's installation draws on rhythmic analogies through pulsating light cycles and vibrant low-frequency sounds that evoke some essential metaphors tied to life itself. Motta & Lima present a machine-based installation that autonomously and rhythmically inflates various balloons scattered across the floor. In turn, Reinoso contributes his Breathing Sculptures, to which he assigns a particular entity to explore the relationship between time and rhythm. In essence, breathing and its rhythms are made present in the room through these works.

At a time of environmental crisis and social tension, the selected works take on new meaning, evoking both the depletion of natural resources and the fragility of bodies in a context of growing instability.
