Opening: Saturday July 5th, 2 p.m.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the alliance between Berlin and Buenos Aires, the exhibition TEJIDOS SONOROS interlaces artistic perspectives from both cities in a tangible dialogue.
Beyond the omnipresent crises, conflicts and tendencies towards radicalisation, the exhibition explores the delicate membranes and fabrics that connect human beings and spaces: Elements such as joy, language, sound, ancestral knowledge and cosmic references. In this universal interconnectedness of human and non-human life, solidarity, mutual help, understanding, listening and reaching out serve as an important counterbalance.
Instead of emphasising the divisive, TEJIDOS SONOROS delves into roots grounded in diverse traditions and origins that communicate with the present, the past and the future, offering valuable impulses for our coexistence. In this way, the concept of community becomes tangible as a cultural practice that draws on mutual recognition and constant exchange. The two cities host spaces of collective living, listening and sharing that can be experienced in installations, photographs and sounds.
Akinbode Akinbiyi's works invite us to share his gaze and contemplation of the streets of Berlin and other urban environments while Farkhondeh Shahroudi presents poetic articulations transformed into sculptural objects.
The Colectivo Tsufwelej (Candelaria Aaset, Martín Churba and Fidela Flores), interweaves cosmovisions and ancestral techniques with modern and futuristic textile processes.
The work Asamblea de Pájaros (Assembly of Birds) by Sofía Bohtlingk, Julieta García Vázquez, and Florencia Rodríguez Giles brings together bird singers and whistlers from across the country in a collaborative practice that explores alternative forms of relationship—activating new bodily and affective possibilities.
