The selection of some of the pieces making up the ENSABAP collection of art copies – presenting different figurative traditions for those studying art under the assumption that copying art works and references to the figurative tradition are a necessary part of artistic education – collides with a selection of contemporary works, creating tension between both approaches. The proposal is presented as a work in progress whose protagonists are both from the ENSABAP and the BIENALSUR curatorship team, and is designed to set the scene for a timely reflection on our “ways of seeing.”
