BIENALSUR arrives in Córdoba with six exhibitions dedicated to environmental issues

Environmental Awareness, Chapter 1: Landscape in focus. Looks from the present, is presented at the Emilio Caraffa Provincial Museum of Fine Arts; in the Provincial Museum of Photography Palacio Dionisi, Environmental Awareness, Chapter 2: Dreams of wild rebellion and Brambilla in retrospect (works 1950-1983); while the Evita Palacio Ferreyra Museum opens Environmental Awareness, Chapter 3: Artificial Paradises; at the Córdoba Cultural Center, Environmental Awareness, Chapter 4: The Crown Letter; and in the Tamburini Museum/Bank of the Province of Córdoba, Environmental Awareness, Chapter 5: A remnant of austere luminosity.

Within the framework of the 2021 edition of BIENALSUR, on Thursday, September 30 and Friday, October 1, six new exhibitions focused on environmental issues will inaugurate at five venues in the city of Córdoba, with works by almost 80 artists from Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Belgium, China, Korea, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, France, Great Britain, Greece, India, Iran and Japan, among other countries.

On September 30, at 12 noon, the Emilio Caraffa Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, KM 646.3 of BIENALSUR, will be the starting point for the BIENALSUR inaugurations in Córdoba with the opening of Environmental Awareness, Chapter 1: Landscape in Focus. Looks from the present. An essay on landscape and how it is modified by human action, curated by the Artistic Director of BIENALSUR, Diana Wechsler, and with works by Daniah Alsaleh (SAU), Christian Boltanski (FRA), Bárbara Fluxa (ESP), Lina Gazzaz (SAU), Sujin Lim (KOR) and Matilde Marin (ARG), as well as works from the museum's collection.

The public will be able to visit the exhibition from the same day of the inauguration in the afternoon and until March 6, from Tuesday to Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Wednesdays, admission is free and the remaining days the ticket costs 250 argentine pesos. Due to protocol, all visits must be booked through the website Autoentrada.

That same day, after the inauguration in the Caraffa Museum, in the Provincial Museum of Photography Palacio Dionisi, KM 646,4 of BIENALSUR, two exhibitions will be opened:

Environmental Awareness, Chapter 2: Dreams of wild rebellion, with works by Erica Bohm (ARG), Pablo Corral Vega (ECU), Melina Fakitsa Mosland (GRC), Juan Pablo Ferlat (ARG), Eduardo Gil (ARG), Lucila Gradin (ARG), Juan Gugger (ARG), Pablo La Padula (ARG), Romina Orazi and Javier Plano (ARG), Valeria Sestúa (ARG), Lorena Ventimiglia (ARG) and Hui Ye (CHI); curated by Benedetta Casini, in collaboration with Pablo La Padula. A curatorial story that brings together photographs, drawings, installations, objects, fabrics and living plants, organized in three sections: Ephemeral Traces, Hybrid Fusions and Vegetable Illusionism.

That same date will be the turn for the exhibition Brambilla in retrospect (works 1950-1983), a research work that recovers the productions of C. Brambilla (ARG), curated by the Society of Friends and Benefactors of the Arts of Cañada Rosquín.

Both exhibitions of the Dionisi Palace welcome visitors from the opening day in the afternoon until February, from Tuesday to Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Wednesdays, admission is free and the remaining days the ticket costs 250 pesos. The Evita Palacio Ferryera Museum, KM 646,2 of BIENALSUR, joins the openings on the 30th with the exhibition Environmental Awareness, Chapter 3: Artificial Paradises, with works by the artists Carolina Antoniadis (ARG), Florencia Caiazza (ARG), Cynthia Cohen (ARG), Karina El Azem (ARG), José Franco (CUB/ARG), Alfredo Frías (ARG), Daiana Martinello (ARG), Catalina Oz (ARG), Débora Pierpaoli (ARG), Dana Prieto (ARG/CAN), Farid Rasulov (AZE), Martin Sichetti (ARG) and Natalia Skobeeba (BEL), among others. Curated by Florencia Qualina, the argument is ornamentation as a source of thought that condenses ways of being and inhabiting the world.

The public will be able to visit this exhibition on the same day of the inauguration in the afternoon until February 13, from Tuesday to Sunday and holidays between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. On Wednesdays, admission is free and the remaining days the ticket costs 250 pesos. Closing the series of inaugurations on Thursday, September 30, at the Córdoba Cultural Center, KM 646.1 of BIENALSUR, will be the turn for Environmental Awareness, Chapter 4: The Crown Letter, an exhibition made up entirely of works by women artists as reflections on the crisis began by Covid-19 from a gender perspective.

This exhibition welcomes visitors from the opening day in the afternoon until December 30, from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., with free admission.

Finally, on October 1 at the Tamburini Museum/Bank of the Province of Córdoba, KM 646.8 of BIENALSUR, the opening of Environmental Awareness, Chapter 5: A remnant of austere luminosity, will be held, with works by Reza Aramesh (IRN/GBR) and curated by Diana Wechsler. A work that delves into the natural and social landscapes associated with migration.

The exhibition can be visited from afternoon of the opening day and until November 19, from Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free admission (until full capacity is reached).
