The General and Artistic Direction of BIENALSUR invites
artists and curators to present projects of works and research curatorship to
integrate the programming of its third edition. From July to November 2021 it
will take place in different venues and spaces located in an expanded and
multipolar territory that simultaneously integrates the countries of South
America, and others in Africa, Asia, Europe and Central and North America,.
The proposals will have to be situated within the horizon of
contemporary theories of art and culture in search of contributing to
reflecting, problematizing or giving other views and approaches to the
multiplicity of life experiences of our time.
Artists and curators of any nationality, individually or
collectively, may submit their proposals until June 15, 2020.
BIENALSUR is a project carried out by UNTREF (Universidad
Nacional de Tres de Febrero de Buenos Aires), an Argentinean public
university; one of its purposes is to
contribute from the South to the creation of a cultural citizenship.
Its format and operation seeks to ensure that the art of
each region is not integrated as a mere quota of diversity, but is presented on
an equal footing based on singularities
and relative positions. For this reason, among the objectives that animate this
project, the constitution of a space that contributes to the development of
critical thought with autonomy with respect to the great canonical stories
stands out. It also seeks to promote the emergence of alternative practices
within the world of art and culture both in the production of ideas and works
and in their modes of exhibition, circulation and consumption.
