Screening: Wednesday, November 19th, 7p.m
This program brings together a series of audiovisual works by artists from the south of Latin America that explore sensitive and critical approaches to the landscape–not as a backdrop or stage, but as an active body, a political space, and a living archive. Through various situated issues in the region–addressing ecological, social, and historical tensions–these works offer critical perspectives that move beyond the notion of nature as a mere exploitable resource or a passive object of contemplation. Whether through forms of taxonomy, speculative inquiry, or audiovisual archaeology, they activate an expanded geography, where image, memory, and perception intertwine to make visible stories that have left behind traces and clues waiting to be uncovered.
Thus, Approaches to the Landscape from the South proposes a visual drift through territories that become landscapes of reflection–where the image does not merely represent or document, but challenges, pierces, and transforms.
