Opening: Tuesday October 7th, 12 p.m Argentine illustrator Rep delved into the fabric of art history, embarking on a vast journey that began in 1993 and unfolded over the years, a creative experience that is documented in the book Bellas Artes. He also created an animated series of the same name, devoting six episodes to Picasso. The one centred on Guernica closes with the words: Franco won the Civil War. Picasso never returned to Spain. Franco died. Guernica will live forever! Each of these episodes has an epic yet human tone, interwoven with history. The fluidity of the drawings shapes each micro-narrative, paying tribute to Picasso and his artistic virtuosity. Rep observes and depicts Picasso, portraying him as he presented himself at different stages of his career. This animated, dynamic and visually rich version weaves its way through the different corners of the Birthplace Museum in the form of a dialogue. It brings history to life, expanding the narrative conveyed in each room and by each exhibited object. Returning to Picasso with Rep in a present marked by urgency, in which the ghosts of the 1930s echo as a looming threat, prompts reflection not only on his story, but also on our present.
