The Words of Others is a performative installation created by the Argentine artist León Ferrari between 1965 and 1967 and then published in book form. This year, it will be presented in Argentina for the first time within the framework of the NON-CONVENTIONAL Festival and BIENALSUR.
It is an extensive literary collage made up of excerpts from numerous texts, mostly news or historical manifestos, where Ferrari crosses in an imaginary dialogue the words of Adolf Hitler, Pope Paul VI, the US President Lyndon B. Johnson, military, journalists, news agencies, and even God. Using these literally 'The Words of Others', the performance makes explicit the history of violence exercised by the West, the result of the complicity between political, religious and media power, a cross-cutting theme in the artist's work. Due to the complexity and length of the text, many initially conceived it as a purely conceptual work of art: the script of an impossible performance.
This version, created by Leandro Martínez Depietri, Rodrigo de Caso and Martín Bauer, explores the wealth of the performative and sound possibilities offered by the script, playing with its multiple variations and intensities and updating its content.
Special appearances by: María Inés Aldaburu, Analía Couceyro, Martín Kohan, Marcelo Lombardero, Franco Torchia, Lisandro Rodríguez, Rafael Spregelburd, Víctor Torres. And, in the role of God, Oscar Aráiz.
