On Saturday July 25 will take place at the IENBA - Instituto Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes - Universidad de la República a meeting with Bernardo Oyarzún, Cristina Piffer and Gabriel Chaile, artists of the exhibition Urgent Memories, which will be inaugurated at the EAC - Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo. The meeting will be moderated by Sebastián Alonso and Leandro Martínez Depietri, curator of the exhibition.
About the exhibition:
We open an intimate and transnational dialogue that challenges the invisibilization of racial violence in the Southern Cone. We are mobilized by the desire to contribute from artistic practices to the process of deconstruction of national identities based on the white, the immigrant and the European. Urgent Memories excavates and exhibits impermanent architectures that are formed and transformed into encounters between dust, mud and stone with noise, word and text through the action of bodies. We focus on the body as an instrument and method to investigate, build new habitable spaces, incarnate history and think together with those who feel summoned. The three artists in this show have long been dealing individually with the question of the power of art in this process.
