Michelangelo Pistoletto

Michelangelo Pistoletto (b. 1933, Biella, Italy) is a key figure in Arte Povera and one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Best known for his mirror paintings, which integrate viewers into the artwork, Pistoletto explores the relationship between art and life through performance, sculpture, and installation. He has exhibited globally, with works in MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, and Reina Sofia. He has shown at the Venice Biennale 11 times and at Documenta 4 times. Awards include the Golden Lion (2003), Wolf Prize (2007), and Praemium Imperiale (2013). He founded Cittadellarte, a creative hub promoting art for social change, and conceived The Third Paradise, a symbol of harmony between nature and society.
