Carlos Amorales

Carlos Amorales (b. 1970, Mexico City) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the boundaries of language, communication, and meaning through symbols, gestures, and sound. Using media such as animation, drawing, video, installation, and performance, he investigates the tension between image and sign. His long-term project, Liquid Archive, forms the basis for many of his works—abstract alphabets and visual codes that shape poetic, non-verbal narratives. Amorales studied at the Rijksakademie and Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and has exhibited at major institutions including the Stedelijk Museum, MUAC, BAMPFA, and the Venice Biennale (2017). He lives and works in Mexico City.
