Hicham Benohoud

Hicham Benohoud (born 1968, Marrakech) is a Moroccan visual artist working in photography, painting, and mixed media. Formerly a teacher, he studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg. His work explores identity, power, and the human body, often using himself as subject. In La Salle de Classe, he stages students in unusual scenes using classroom items. His work has been shown at Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Hayward Gallery, and Aperture Foundation. He has participated in biennials and art fairs like Dakar, Paris Photo, PhotoEspaña, and Landskrona. He authored La Salle de Classe and Des lycéens par eux-mêmes. His works are in major collections, including Tate Modern and Centre Pompidou. He won the Prix Photo Service and Prix Visa pour la Création.
