Opening: Wednesday, November 19th, 7 p.m
One of the first formats we explored among BIENALSUR’s associative strategies, and one that we continue to develop, is the incorporation of universities into the network. In this case, the collaboration between the Escuela Universitaria de Artes TAI and UNTREF has resulted in an initiative that broadens the scope of actions of both educational and research institutions. On the one hand, there is a specific call for research-creation projects aimed at members of both academic communities. On the other, it involves proposing interventions in selected areas of the Escuela Universitaria de Artes TAI building (Recoletos, Madrid) by Brazilian artist Lia Chaia.
The presence of Articulated Drawings will briefly transform various areas of the building into some sort of magical boxes. The shapes that move, take form and fluctuate in the space alter the perception of the site. Lia Chaia’s installation stimulates the imagination, offering an invitation to surprise and reverie.
Articulated Drawings is one of the chapters of the project Let's Play. Other chapters are on display at the MUNTREF Contemporary Art Centre in Buenos Aires, the SAMoCA at Jax in Riyadh and the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid, among other venues included in the 2025 cartography.
