Opening: Saturday November 15th, 6.30 p.m
As part of the foundation's institutional goals–focused on engaging with historical heritage as an act of contemporary culture–the current exhibition venue, a 17th-century building, served as the starting point for developing the exhibition project Superfici Con:. This project seeks to connect the semantic and historical universe embedded in the wall and stone surfaces of the foundation's pavilion (including frescoes, coats of arms, petroglyphs, writings, engravings, and cracks) with the creative visions of artists whose work engages in a dialogue with architectural surfaces. These artists contribute to blurring the boundaries between the institutional framework of art and its exhibition context, between history and different modes of communication. By bringing together painting, photography, video, and installation, the exhibition does not simply take place “in a location” but rather with it. It draws upon the memory of the marks and traces found within the foundation's space to present contemporary artworks that either emerge from or are created directly on wall surfaces—surfaces that sometimes become integral to the conceptual design of the work, turning into essential elements of the artistic project itself.
