Errázuriz – Lestido. National Heroes | Sepur Zarco. The Conquest of Home

Opening: Tuesday July 8th, 6 p.m. For the first time in Argentina, this exhibition brings together the renowned Chilean photographer Paz Errázuriz and Argentine photographer Adriana Lestido. While their works address different themes and geographies, both share a powerful visual language that challenges the invisible, the excluded, and the silenced.

Errázuriz presents two pivotal series: National Heroes (1980s) and Sepur Zarco (2019). The former features fragmented statues from the Chilean dictatorship, images that subvert heroic gestures to speak of ruin and destruction. Sepur Zarco portrays the indigenous Q'eqchi' women from Guatemala, survivors of state crimes during the civil war who finally achieved justice decades later. Both series engage with history as systematically written by the patriarchy and explore the possibility of recovering voices that were silenced for decades.

In turn, Lestido presents the unpublished series The Conquest of Home. Rather than a romanticized or documentary approach, her images, captured in the Arctic Circle, delve into the essential: the fragility of the environment, the suspension of time, and utter solitude. This extreme geography questions not only the landscape but also our relationship with both the human and the non-human.

Two artists, two territories. The politics of the body and memory; the mystery of ice and light. An exhibition that confirms photography as an act of resistance and reflection.
