Chat with Katsuhiko Hibino at MUNTREF Caseros

Action

The Japanese artist Katsuhiko Hibino will give a lecture with Diana Wechsler, artistic-academic director of BIENALSUR.

The artistic projects of social inclusion inevitably provoke a transformation in the way of looking at and thinking about the surrounding world. Aware of this potential and sensitivity, Katsuhiko Hibino presented a new stage of the TURN/BIENALSUR project, first carried out in 2017 in the first edition of the biennial. It is an artistic activity that seeks the exchange of knowledge between people with different histories, and that works with minority communities, which then result in artistic exhibitions. The project was conceived with a view to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and is replicated in different countries. For BIENALSUR 2019, Hibino worked together with members of the Quilmes community, where he deployed workshops, sharing views on original knowledge and experiences that provoked an unavoidable transformation among the participants of this initiative. The results of this exchange could be seen during the months of July and August at the Timoteo Navarro Provincial Museum of Fine Arts; and can be visited from August 25 to 31 in the Sacred City of Quilmes, Tucumán.
