Prepared space

Prepared space is a site-specific installation that proposes a white, shiny, specially conditioned space where the artist makes cuts on the walls and floor and inserts in them a series of bronze pieces as if the room would collapse if she did not have them. Carefully articulated, this space reveals a singular migratory cartography that shows the precariousness and uncertainties of existence. In Tatiana Trouvé's work, the place is ready for both deconstruction and repair, for alteration or restoration. The title of the work refers to John Cage's "prepared piano", whose possibilities were explored by the artist between 1940 and 1950. Intervened by various objects that modified its function, "prepared piano" corresponds to the definition of music as a sequence of sound events.
