Davi Kopenawa is a Yanomami leader and activist for Indigenous rights and Amazon rainforest preservation. Since 1983, he has fought against illegal mining and environmental destruction.
He has received awards such as the Right Livelihood Award and the UN Global 500. He has worked with the Comissão Pró-Yanomami (CCPY), promoting education and healthcare in his community. He has met with global leaders and was awarded Brazil’s Order of Rio Branco in 1999.
