Marcos López
Marcos López (Santa Fe, 1958) is one of Argentina’s most renowned visual artists and photographers, and a leading figure in contemporary Latin American art. With a career spanning over four decades, he developed a distinctive visual language—“Latin Pop” and “Criollo Sub-Realism”—known for staged scenes, saturated colors, and a critical approach to Latin American identity and society .
He has represented Argentina at major international biennials and festivals and has received important awards such as the Pilar Citoler International Photography Award (2008) and the Platinum Konex Award (2012). His publications include Portraits, Latin Pop, Criollo Sub-Realism, and Marcos López Photography 1978–2010.
His work is held in major collections including Museo Reina Sofía, Fondation Cartier, El Museo del Barrio, and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires , and has been exhibited widely across the Americas and Europe.
