Wolf Vostell

Wolf Vostell (1932-1998), a pioneering German artist, is renowned for his work in decollage, painting, sculpture, happening, video art, and Fluxus. His art addresses themes like World War II, the Holocaust, and political conflicts of the 20th century, including the Vietnam War and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Vostell coined the term Dé-coll/age in 1954 to describe his unique collage style using torn posters and photographs. He was a pioneer in installations and video art, with works like TV Dé-coll/age (1963). In 1976, he founded the Vostell-Malpartida Museum in Spain. His legacy lives on in major contemporary art collections, and his work remains a key reference in political and social art.
