Carolle Bénitah

Carolle Bénitah (1965-2024) was a Moroccan-French visual artist known for her unique approach to photography, blending archival images with embroidery, gold leaf, and ink drawings. Trained as a fashion designer at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, she transitioned into art in 2001, focusing on themes of memory, identity, and grief. Through installations and domestic objects, she redefined everyday materials, bridging the intimate and the universal. Her work has been featured in Leica World, Lens Culture, and Center for Photography Houston, solidifying her legacy as a leading figure in contemporary art that challenges time and memory construction.
