Annemarie Heinrich

Annemarie Heinrich (Darmstadt, Germany, 1912 – Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2005) was a German-Argentine photographer and a pioneer in artistic photography in Latin America. Over a career spanning six decades, she developed a unique visual language and photographic style that redefined the representation of cinema, theatre, and radio in Argentina. In the 1940s and 1950s, she became the most sought-after portraitist of cultural figures in the country. Heinrich was among the first to elevate photography to an art form in Argentina, participating in major national and international exhibitions. Her works are part of the permanent collections of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, the National Film Museum, and others. She received numerous awards and honors, including being named an Illustrious Citizen of Buenos Aires.
