Léa Beloosovitch
Léa Belooussovitch (Paris, 1989) is a French contemporary artist based in Brussels whose practice focuses on drawing and the critical reinterpretation of media imagery. Working primarily with felt and pastel, she translates press photographs of conflict, humanitarian crises, and political events into blurred textile surfaces that question the speed and saturation of contemporary visual culture.
A graduate of ENSAV La Cambre (Brussels), where she earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Drawing, Belooussovitch explores themes of collective memory, the representation of violence, and visual erasure. Her work introduces a poetic and political distance, transforming impactful news imagery into contemplative spaces and positioning drawing as a critical medium within contemporary European art.
Her solo exhibitions include presentations at the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Saint-Étienne Métropole, Le Botanique (Brussels), Galerie PARIS-B (Paris), Centre d’Art Contemporain Le Cellier (Reims), and Meessen (Brussels). Her work has also been shown at the Musée de l’Orangerie (Paris), FRAC Auvergne, and ARTER (Istanbul).
