Bashaer Hawsawi

Bashaer Hawsawi is a Jeddah-based artist and designer whose practice intertwines mixed media and found objects to explore cultural identity, belonging, memory, and ritual. Her work investigates how everyday materials can become vessels of meaning, articulating narratives around cleansing, nostalgia, and the symbolic construction of home. Growing up surrounded by tools and manual processes shaped her strong visual memory and her ongoing interest in storytelling through materials. She earned her BFA in Sculpture and Ceramics from the King Abdulaziz University in 2015. She has received grants from the Misk Art Institute, Hayy Jameel, and the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia. Her work has been featured at Art Dubai (2024), Jeddah Art Fair (2023), Noor Riyadh Festival (2023), and Hafez Gallery (2018). Through continuous research and experimentation, Hawsawi transforms ordinary materials into carriers of memory, reflecting on evolving concepts of culture, identity, and shared space within contemporary Saudi art.
