Jacopo Mazzonelli
Jacopo Mazzonelli (b. 1983) is an Italian contemporary artist whose practice operates at the intersection of visual art and music. Through sculpture, installation, and performance, he investigates sound as a spatial and temporal experience, deconstructing and transforming musical instruments into sculptural devices. His research focuses on the concept of the “musical gesture,” rhythm perception, and the unfolding of time as artistic material.
Using interdisciplinary methodologies, Mazzonelli translates sound into visual and architectural form, creating works that engage the body, space, and listening. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and internationally. In 2017, MART – Galleria Civica di Trento dedicated to him the solo exhibition To Be Played at Maximum Volume, accompanied by a monograph. In 2023, a new publication on his work was released by Manfredi Edizioni as a project of the VAF-Stiftung.
His works are included in collections such as AGI Verona, UniCredit Art Collection and VAF-Stiftung Collection. Since 2017, he has collaborated with composer Matteo Franceschini on performative projects.
