Gaia De Megni
Gaia de Megni (Santa Margherita Ligure, 1993) has worked since 2014 across sculpture, video, and performance. Her practice examines the possibilities of the image through the fragmentation of Western iconography and systems of representation, with a particular focus on cinematic and digital archives as individual and collective matrices. She is interested in negotiating a balance between monument and movement, solidity and liquidity, exploring how images oscillate between permanence and transformation.
She lives and works between Rome and Milan. She studied Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at NABA in Milan and furthered her education through the MAP_PA Master in Performing Arts organized by Palaexpo and the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Recent projects include AFELIO (performance, 2023), Il mito dell’Eroe (video and performance, 2021), and Il mito dell’Androgino (sculpture, 2020). She has exhibited at Museo del Novecento (Milan), Ars Electronica Festival (Linz), Hypermaremma, and the Talent Prize INSIDEART (Rome). She is the recipient of the Monza Biennale dei Giovani Art Prize (2017) and the Pini Art Prize (2023).
