Hajra Waheed
Hajra Waheed’s multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, video, sound, sculpture and installation. Her work explores the intersections of surveillance, security and power, addressing the traumas of displacement and colonial violence. With a unique poetic visual language, she uses the everyday to express the profound and employs landscape to frame human struggle and resistance. Her work has been exhibited at Sharjah Biennial, Centre Pompidou, British Museum, Venice Biennale, among others. Waheed received the Sharjah Biennial Prize (2023) and was a finalist for the Sobey Art Award (2016). Her works are held in major collections such as MoMA (New York), British Museum and the National Gallery of Canada.
