Waltércio Caldas

Waltércio Caldas (Rio de Janeiro, 1946) is a prominent Brazilian sculptor, designer, and graphic artist. Known for his role in the neoconcrete movement, his work explores perception, space, and the void through refined materials and minimal forms. Since the 1970s, Caldas has created conceptual objects and enigmatic sculptures, including Espelho com luz (1975). He has exhibited at major events like the Venice Biennale, São Paulo Biennial, and Mercosur Biennial, and in institutions such as MoMA (New York), Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, and the Blanton Museum of Art (Austin). He has received numerous awards, including the Mario Pedrosa Prize (1993). His work is part of major public and private collections worldwide. Caldas lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
