Natalia Montoya
Natalia Montoya Lecaros is a visual artist born in Iquique, a northern Chilean city between the sea and the desert. A pilgrim of the La Tirana festival and of Aymara heritage, she holds a Master’s, Bachelor's, and Teaching Degree in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her interdisciplinary work spans sculpture, installation, painting, and performance, focusing on affective bonds and materials from her territory and its transborder dynamics. Drawing from ancestral narratives and Indigenous cosmovision, her practice reflects on identity, memory, and spiritual ties to the land. She has exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Chile, Museum of Contemporary Art in Quinta Normal, Regional Museum of Iquique, RUCO Festival (Tarapacá), and Colombo Gallery in Medellín. In 2024, she will participate in the Klima Biennale in Vienna, affirming her growing international presence in contemporary Latin American art.
