Juan Osorno

Juan Osorno (Medellín, Colombia) is a visual artist blending scientific illustration with science fiction. Using graphite and occasional found photography, he constructs alternate realities where anatomy is reimagined, UFOs appear in historical events, and aliens pose for pencil portraits. He holds a Fine Arts degree from the University of Antioquia (2017), where he was awarded Best Thesis. Deeply influenced by Borges, Poe, and anatomical encyclopedias, Osorno creates pseudo-scientific series like A Draughtsman’s Illustrated Anatomy and Sightings, which depict UFOs disrupting events like the 1936 Olympics. He has presented solo shows in Bogotá and Medellín, participated in art fairs in Paris, Madrid, and Mexico City, and exhibited at the Medellín Museum of Modern Art and Kunsthalle Darmstadt in Germany. In 2017, he received the Emerging Artist Award from the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO), Miami.
