Etson Caminha
Etson Caminha (born 1984, Lospalos) is one of Timor-Leste’s leading contemporary artists. His multidisciplinary practice combines sound, performance, and installation, bridging Timorese cultural traditions with global contemporary art. Also an accomplished musician, he addresses post-conflict memory, identity, and transformation. Caminha is bassist of the internationally recognized band Galaxy and the first Timorese artist selected for the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art. He co-founded NOISE Timor and has performed across Asia, Europe, and Australia. He has composed soundtracks for films such as Ema Nudar Umanu (2018), The Sea Decides (2021), and Sikat Subar (2024). Since 2023, he directs the Hasoru Malu Music program.
